LCS operates at the Trans Adriatic Pipeline
Cable crane systems installed for two different sections
LCS cable crane systems were used for two different part sections of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). The TAP is an 870 km long pipeline, which transports natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe. It was connected with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Turkish-Greek border and runs through Greece and Albania to South Italy. The TAP will enable Europe to be supplied with gas from Azerbaijan beginning in 2020.
The first section that LCS was involved was in Greece, more precisely near the port city of Thessaloniki. There, LCS took over the installation of a 580 m long section in up to 30° steep terrain. Construction material and pipes were transported and placed by means of a 12 to cable crane system.
The second section was located in Albania. LCS installed a cable crane system at five different steep sections to transport pipes and construction material over a total length of two kilometres.
With the help of the cable crane systems, the two sections in two different countries were successfully completed without incidents.
