Bridge Rodovia dos Tamoios

Bridge construction in the sensitive rainforest in Brazil.

• For the construction of the 82 km long highway “Rodovia dos Tamoios”, leading from Caraguatatuba to Sao Paulo, LCS was commissioned with the construction of a bridge over a gorge with up to 100 m depth. With the help of a 20 ton cable crane system the two pillars of the bridge were assembled and construction material such as concrete and construction equipment were transported. Due to the difficult access to the construction site, the 45 m high tower had to be installed by helicopter (Aéro-spatiale AS 332 – Super Puma).

  By using a cable crane system easy access to the construction site could be guaranteed and the environmental impact was reduced to a minimum. Furthermore, the system could be used for limited manpower transportation.
